Happy Christmas Eve!

Standard

It’s Christmas Eve! Yesterday I went to my “hometown” in Yamanashi Prefecture and I came back this morning. This morning I spent at Lake Kawaguchi (Kawaguchiko) watching the sun rise over Mt. Fuji. It was beautiful! No matter how many times I see Mt. Fuji, I’ll never get tired of it!

I return to the US in 2 weeks, so I’m going to try to enjoy the rest of my time here. I don’t really want to go back, but I have no choice… After Christmas is the New Year, so I will be busy with family things with my fiance’s family. This year I must remember not to greet them with the traditional New Year greeting: “Akemashite omedetou” – because my fiance’s grandmother passed away this year. In Japan, since a relative passed away, it’s not appropriate to celebrate. They won’t receive any New Year’s cards or greetings from others. They also won’t put up New Year’s decorations. Well, I will still do a lot of things over the New Year with his family, so I’m looking forward to that!

Merry Christmas, everyone!
