Hi, I’m Kei!

Who is Kei?
I’m an American girl who just finished my Master’s in Science. My first language is English; my second is Japanese. I’ve just ended a long-distance relationship with my Japanese fiancé (details here), which lasted almost a year and a half! We also recently got married, so now technically he’s my Japanese husband.

What is this blog about?
I created this blog when I was in a long-distance relationship with my Japanese fiancé, who is now my husband. I write about my international relationship, my experiences travelling in Japan and North America, and Japanese culture. I also write about other things that interest me when I think of them ^^

Why “Yamanashi Kei”?
My name is Kei (that’s how you spell it in Japanese), and when I studied abroad in Japan, I lived in Yamanashi prefecture. When you say prefecture in Japanese it is “ken,” so Yamanashi prefecture becomes Yamanashi-ken. I swapped out “Kei” for “ken” and voila, Yamanashi Kei. I’m Kei, from Yamanashi-ken! Think Indiana Jones (`・ω・´)

How did you meet your husband?
I’ve conveniently written a post about this, so please check here for the full story!

How do I get in touch with you?
Please use my e-mail address yamanashikei3 at gmail dot com

When were you last in Japan?
I was last in Japan in December/January of 2014/2015 for a one-month trip. I wrote up my daily experiences in a diary on this blog. Start reading at Day 1 here or pick a day to start reading here!
