Hi, I’m Kei!

Who is Kei?
I’m an American woman who lives and works in the US. My first language is English; my second is Japanese. I met my Japanese husband in 2012 while we were in school, and after a year and a half long-distance relationship we finally got married. Now we live in the US together and travel to Japan as often as we can. We have learned to navigate two different cultures to make a strong relationship, and I want to share our experiences and our journey.

ケイは誰でしょうか？
はじめまして、ケイです！アメリカで生まれ育った女性です。母国語は英語ですが、日本語も日常会話くらいできます。2012年に日本人の旦那さんに出会って、一年間半の遠距離恋愛の後結婚して、今アメリカに一緒に住んでいます。二つの文化を混ぜて一緒に暮らしているの経験について書こうと思います。

What is this blog about?
I created this blog when I was in a long-distance relationship with my Japanese fiancé (details here), who is now my husband. I write about my international relationship with my husband, my experiences travelling in Japan and North America, and Japanese culture. I also write about other Japan-related things that interest me ^^

日本人のフィアンセと遠距離恋愛中にこのブログを作って、今あの人は旦那さんになりましたよ。国際恋愛とか日本の旅行とか日本の文化について書こうと思います。後、好きなことについて書きます！このブログは大体英語で書いていますね。

Why “Yamanashi Kei”?
My name is Kei (that’s how you spell it in Japanese), and when I studied abroad in Japan, I lived in Yamanashi prefecture. When you say prefecture in Japanese it is “ken,” so Yamanashi prefecture becomes Yamanashi-ken. I swapped out “Kei” for “ken” and voila, Yamanashi Kei. I’m Kei, from Yamanashi-ken! Think Indiana Jones (`･ω･´)

Yamanashi Keiとは？
私の本名はケイで、日本に留学した時山梨県に住んでいましたよ。ヤマナシ・ケイの流れは山梨県と同じようだから、ちょっと可愛いと思いましたね。言葉遊びが好きな人です(`･ω･´)
